Coco Chanel and I – The Classic Edition
My first Chanel classic was a graduation gift from my parents – the CC clasp jumbo size flag bag in black caviar leather. Yes, ‘Lucky B*£ch’, I know…
Well, this was what my first classic bag ended up being anyway.
My dad had heard me talk of this coveted bag and so decided to take a trip down to the Chanel store on Bond Street, London and purchase a classic cc flap bag in lambskin leather and a medium size… This was the sweetest gift, but I had to go back for the caviar and I’ll explain why in my next blog.
These are the top things to know when purchasing your first Classic Chanel handbag…
1.Classics are always loved and needed so go ahead and get it.
2.What bag are you??? Every design appeals to a different kind of woman.
3.Your budget… these bags can set you back but will you love it forever!
Ok, so a classic is a classic – it’s in the word. This is a bag that any girl would love and can be worn day and night. The “investment” bag if you like. So, you cannot go wrong here. Here are the top Chanel classics out there…
You have the classic CC clasp flap bag, the 2.55 and the Boy bag. Any of these three in the coveted black and nude colour are perfect to start a collection. They are easy to use and transition well from daytime to evening bags.
You also need to take into consideration the type of leather you want. You have a choice of two – lambskin or caviar.
So, let me tell you about them both. I always wanted the caviar – it is more durable and less likely to become ‘old’ looking. It’s a winner for me. However, some like the softer look of the lambskin, that is less structured and subtler in an elegant way.
This really comes down to your preference… The durability of the caviar is amazing, eight years down the line and my classic looks brand new. I take good care of my babies! My boy bag though – lambskin – I just fell in love and due to the Chanel cushion pattern any marks are hidden and so the bag also still seems completely new!
