‘What creates the perfect outfit’ is a hard question to answer as there are so many styles and ways of putting pieces together that this becomes a question with many answers. I often get asked by friends to help with their outfit choices and I have decided to share my top tips for bringing your outfit to life.

So, let us start with the new trends…patterns, bold logos and colours. These are everywhere on Instagram and it seems everything can go. You can wear Dior with Fendi and Chanel with Balenciaga. Matching and clashing have almost become one entity. So, get creative!

There are and always will be basic rules, and these cannot be broken! I am quite fond of sticking to the same designer in any one outfit and also not overdoing it with in-your-face outfits that scream ‘I am wearing this brand’. Yes, I do love a logo and have them on many of the things I wear but sometimes subtle is key.

Let’s take a look at some of my recent outfit choices and see how I place different pieces together that can be bold but not overwhelming.

Below, I paired this gorgeous Yves Saint Laurent dress with my favourite (YSL) heels of 2018. There are so many pieces you can place with statement shoes. You can use the shoe or bag to bring out the entire outfit and that one statement piece means you do not need to fork out for entire outfit to be designer…I just went all out for NYE…oops…

Any simple black dress would have still made this outfit just as gorgeous! Here is my “white” alternative with these shoes and I paired with my boy bag… mix and match if logos are subtle works!

I love a bold shoe (as above will tell you) but let’s move on to bags matching shoes this is my favourite way to bring your outfit together. You can do this with any pieces you own…keep to same shades with shoes and bags if you can this keeps your outfit tidy. My matching pieces below are by Dior but you can do this with any shoe/ bag pairing you like. You can add a splash of colour like I have with my Hermes twilly…any thin long scarf will do. You can wrap this around your bag handle and voila you have something new. You can change up your look with these scarves keeping your bag looking different every time. Bonus…the scarf will keep the handle of your bag new too.

Another one of my tips for bringing outfits together is to find a key colour theme- above is black and white throughout with a pop of red, from my Twilly, that could be highlighted with a red lip. Why not include your makeup in the picture???

Above I stick to a more army fatigue theme of khaki and brown…all on trend at the moment. Dress like a chic army personnel and you are ready to go! There is khaki and camouflage in all the stores currently and you can choose from high street to high end.

I have kept my simple beige/khaki theme throughout but added a pop of colour from my Gucci Princetown slippers. They have pink/red roses on the top and although completely irrelevant to this outfit they totally go and add something exciting to the ensemble. Something that was possibly quite unconventional before is now seen as the key fashion accessory to your outfit. Tip is that my nails are red so again highlighting and complimenting the colour pop from my slippers.

It will take forever to go through all my outfit choices and how I put them together, but I have given some insight into how I pick what to wear and how my ensemble is created. Fashion is an expression of how you feel, it is an art to express yourself…so have some fun with it! There is no right or wrong so you can either match it or clash it…

I often get asked about how to put things together. So, DM me on my Instagram and let me know if you have any outfit ideas that you just cannot seem to put together and I can highlight and post some more of my personal tips xxx
