J’adior Dior

I had originally booked to see this exhibition of dreams when it first arrived in London at the start of February but due to circumstances had to delay my visit and now, I’m finally here!

This exhibition dedicated to one of my favourite fashion houses truly excites me and I cannot wait to share all with my readers.

The exhibition is dedicated to the fashion that spanned throughout the House of Dior starting with Monsieur Dior in 1910 to now Maria Grazia Chiuri 2019. There have been 6 creative directors for Dior since Monsieur Dior himself and each has brought their own vision and revived Dior in a different way to make it the fashion house we know and love today.

There are several sections filled with haute couture dresses and the exhibition reimagines the major exhibition ‘Christian Dior: Couturier du Rêve’, organised by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. I remember seeing this all over Instagram and now I finally get to see it in person with almost 50% new content to set my eyes upon.

The exhibition is simple and chic with different themed rooms and lots of history and memorabilia from the reign of monsieur Dior and other directors through the years.

One of the highlights is the dress Princess Margaret wore on her 21st birthday, on loan from the Museum of London.

This gorgeous dress above was worn by Lady Diana to the 1996 Met Gala and lead to the infamous controversy that the ex princess was wearing a night gown inspired dress… I loved her in this piece.

Each director beginning from Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano, Raf Simons and all the way through to current Maria Grazia Chiuri have been given equal weight and appearances throughout the exhibition…it was like travelling through a Dior timeline.

My favourite room was one filled with flowers (a Dior dream), it was breathtaking. Then, when you think it is over you enter another world of Dior, a room filled with all of Dior’s most embolic gowns.

The exhibition remains until July 14, 2019.

If you get the chance you must go see the Designer of Dreams!
